A Geocaching Community Celebration Event – Did you know that Fargo-Moorhead is the unofficial geocaching capital of the North? With the state’s first official GeoTour and seven unique Adventure Labs, there are tons of smileys to be found in our vibrant community.

Join Giacaches and friends for an afternoon of embracing the cold and celebrating winter at Frostival: A Geocaching Community Celebration Event! Whether you’re brand-new to geocaching or a seasoned expert, you’re invited to bring your skis, snowshoes, and sense of adventure from 2-4 p.m on January 16. All event attendees will receive a special limited edition Frostival path tag and there will be door prizes, snacks, and warm beverages! No skis? Rentals should be available the day-of.

This event will feature the launch of the official Frostival Adventure, an outdoor virtual tour focusing on the history of winter in our region. Unlike traditional geocaching, Adventures do not require a physical container, but our Adventure will feature a special bonus cache created by gadget-genius Trycacheus.This Event is part of a limited release of Community Celebration Events to celebrate 20 years of geocaching.

Snow Sculpture Competition – “The Snow Must Go On” Snow Sculpture Competition will take place at Viking Ship Park during the Frozen Fortress. Amateurs and professionals will be creating snow sculptures for the Frozen Fortress. Judging will happen all week and the winner will be announced on February 6!

Outdoor Gear Garage Sale – Do you have functional gear lying around your house, shoved up in your attic, or hidden somewhere in your garage that you aren’t using? LET US HELP! Nature of the North, the Moorhead American Legion Post 21, and Frostival are teaming up to give the FM community an opportunity to buy, sell, and trade used gear/equipment!

FREE to attend and FREE Registration to sell. We simply want to provide a space for you to make some money while also helping to grow your local outdoor community. This event will make it possible for people to access gear that they otherwise wouldn’t have, and allows for the possibility of learning a new hobby, or inspiration for a fun adventure!

Bonfire Building Workshop – It’s time to take your fire building skills to the next level! Join Nature of the North (in-person or virtually) and learn how to properly and safely build a big ol’ backyard bonfire! From learning of local fire permitting, to structure, to maintenance, you’ll have everything you need to impress your family and friends this winter season!

A Frostival Celebration of Winter Food Tales – Whether you’ve got a long history of homemade lefse-making with your family, truly despise lutefisk, or have never heard of kuchen, you’re invited to a celebration of food, drink, and storytelling tradition! Join Food of the North on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2021, at Drekker Brewing (Brewhalla) for a cozy, socially-distant evening featuring stories about the one thing that brings us all together: FOOD! Sit back, relax, and enjoy stories from local chefs, business owners, and community members about the food that has shaped their lives. This will be hosted by proud Fargo native and comedian, JJ Gordon and feature free Scandanavian appetizers from local small businesses including Bernbaums and Milk Made.

NOTE: Not all details have been confirmed and are subject to change as we finalize plans in upcoming weeks. Due to the ongoing health pandemic, we are also planning an alternative virtual event if gathering in person is not a safe option.

Fargo Film, Food, Fashion, & Fun Celebration – Join us for Broadway Square’s inaugural and soon-to-be signature Frostival event! Wear your Fargo-ist of Fargo wear (ear-flap hats, moon boots, flannel shirts, etc.) and come on down to Broadway Square to enjoy a screening of the movie Fargo (R, 1996) on the MegaScreen, introduced with clips from your favorite Fargo (movie and tv series) celebrities, and accompanied by classic Fargo flavors provided by local vendors (think knoephla soup, tater tot hotdish, lefse, and fleischkuechle). A scavenger hunt of themed photo opportunities will be scattered around Broadway, the Fargo Theatre will be selling popcorn, the ND Film Society will host Fargo trivia (resulting in Fargo gear giveaways), Nature of the North will offer Fargo Survival workshop sessions, and there may just be a sighting of the infamous woodchipper!
